Environmental analysis
CIES is equipped with state-of-art analytical facilities for the analysis of a wide range of environmental samples, such as soil, sediment, marine water, freshwater, sewage and industrial effluent, plant and animal samples. The analytical techniques are based on USEPA methods and focused on the determination of persistent toxic organic compounds and heavy metals. Our advanced analytical instruments include:
- Biological Safety Cabinet - Class II
- Gas Chromatograph with Mass Spectrometer and Electron Capture Detector (GC-MS)
- Graphite Furnace and Flame Atomic Absorption Sectrometer (AAS)
- High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC)
- Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES)Microwave Digestor
- Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)
- Microtox
- Segmented Flow Nutrient Analyzer (SFA)
- Total Organic Carbon Analyser (TOC)
- UV-visible Spectrometer
CIES has been included in the UNEP Monitoring Programme on Persistent Organice Pollutants as a Tier II Laboratory
